In the past couple of years off plan property investments around the mediterranean have not really offered great value for money and many areas have seen over development on a massive scale leaving potential investors looking elsewhere. Prices are starting to rise but you can find apartments for well under 100,000 euros and villas for less than 200,000 euros. The most important thing to think about in this region is location, especially if you want to rent property out.

There are strict rules for constructors in this region so you won't fiind any huge developments or high rises anywhere near the coast. Properties tend to be built in small stages, either one or two apartment blocks with 10-20 units, or a few villas at each stage. Current off plan developments in Tropea, Ricardi and Zambrone have sea views and are reasonably colse to all amenites and public transport.

With budget airlines and Thompson holidays bringing more and more UK tourists over the demand for rental properties is likely to increase, especially in the peak summer months.
